How Your Outfit Influences Your Workout

How Your Outfit Influence Your Workout

How many times have you told yourself you were going to start working out, but you never did? Maybe you never even put on your workout clothes to begin with. Or maybe you threw on some clothes and went to the gym, and quit after a couple of trips?

This is totally normal. Do you know what one of the biggest contributing factors to exercise motivation is? Your athletic wear! Yep, it's true. I mean think about it. What is motivating about a t-shirt and shorts? Nothing.

When we pick out an outfit for the day, it really determines how we feel. If we're going out to a nice lunch, we choose a cute outfit, and we feel good in it! When we come home at the end of the day, we put on our pajamas to relax. And what do a lot of us wear as pajamas? The same thing we throw on to go to the gym - t-shirts and shorts. No wonder we don't feel like exercising!

If you want to feel motivated to go to the gym, start by picking out some cute and comfortable athletic clothes that make you feel confident and allow you to move around freely. These should be clothes that you would never wear as lounge clothes. If you are wearing something that makes you want to sit on the couch and watch TV, it's not the right outfit for the gym.

Keep your workout clothes separate from your other clothing, so that when you wear them, your brain associates them with exercise, motivating you to do something active. And remember, the more confident and comfortable you feel in your athletic wear, the better your workout will be!
